Kimmy Giselle Faʻaui also known as Berta, is a dedicated, team player with a positive attitude and caring heart. She is a Samoan native who identifies as a fa’afafine, born and raised on the Tropical Island of Tutuila Am. Samoa. She moved here from Las Vegas in 2005 and has lived in WA ever since. When UTOPIA was initially founded, she has been working alongside UTOPIA WA staff members in supporting the Pasifika community, especially the Queer and Trans Pacific Islander (QTPI) community. Through actively participating and volunteering in multiple events with UTOPIA Washington, she was able to build her leadership skills to further bring visibility to her community. This includes the widely recognized event, known as the Miss UTOPIA International Pageant in which she was crowned the 1st Miss UTOPIA International 2010-2011.
Fun fact about her, she was selected as a finalist to be part of a Volleyball Team (Team Extravaganza) to represent Hawaii in TSG (The Straits Gay Games) in 2019 at Chiang Mai, Thailand where they took home Gold Medal! Before her commitment to serve UTOPIA Washington at an official capacity, she worked as a Administrative Assistant at Domino’s Supply Center. Kimmy brings her dedication to the next level of advancing UTOPIA Washington’s work through, passionate articulation, in cultivating meaningful relationships, and strengthening partnerships within growing BIPOC communities.Kimmy is super thrilled to accept this new role as a SWEI (Sex Worker Empowerment Initiative) Program Coordinator. She is eager to offer her skill sets to the mission, values, and vision of UTOPIA Washington while elevating and empowering the community.
