Jakey Sala Siolo (he/they) is a dedicated community organizer, creative, and young professional committed to social justice, gender equity, and violence prevention. Jakey is a Queer Sāmoan with family roots in Gataivai, Samoa. Jakey is based in Salt Lake City and has been a driving force behind movements for policy change and advocacy, ensuring the voices of LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities are uplifted and heard. Drawing on deep expertise in nonprofit development, storytelling, corporate fundraising, and advocacy for youth and survivors—especially within the Queer, Trans, and Indigenous communities—Jakey has made it their mission to support and elevate Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Their comprehensive experience in marketing, community engagement, and health initiatives underscores their substantial impact on both local and national movements.
Beyond their work with UTOPIA Washington, Jakey serves on multiple Board of Directors, including the Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, the Salt Lake Central Ninth Youth Prevention Coalition, the Utah Office for Victims of Crimes Steering Committee, and the University of Utah’s Bennion Scholar Advisory Committee. Since 2022, they have been leading Nuanua Collective, Utah’s only LGBTQ+ organization dedicated to Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, fostering advocacy and community empowerment. Jakey’s leadership has taken them to national stages such as Harvard University and the White House, where they continue to advocate for those whose voices are often silenced. Jakey has dedicated his career to making waves of change and empowering communities and their passion for equity, representation, and policy change fuels their work, making them a formidable advocate for marginalized communities.
