Chyanne Cepeda-Leslie, a proud CHamoru woman, was born and raised in Guam for the early part of her childhood before relocating to Tacoma, WA. She works as a Registered Nurse at the Utopia Mapu Maia Clinic, providing comprehensive care including primary healthcare, preventative care, gender-affirming services and many other services. Chyanne holds a Master’s in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a focus on Family Nurse Practitioner. Motivated by the lack of Pacific Islander representation in healthcare, she aims to offer compassionate care to her community. Her passion for healthcare was inspired by her caregiving experiences with her grandparents and the loss of her mother. Chyanne also serves on the Equity and Justice Committee at her educational institution and was recently elected to the Physicians for Social Responsibility 2025 Inaugural Cohort, advocating for health equity and sustainability. Through her personal and professional journey, she strives to inspire others and make a positive impact.
Our strength as a community is in the diversity of stories, experiences, and identities. As Fa’afafine, Māhū, Leitī, Vakasalewalewa and many other Pacific Islander identities, our very beings are by nature intersectional, and our work cannot help but be so as well.
