Camp FAQ
  • Where is the camp located?
The QTPI Camp location will be shared to all participants via email communications.
  • How do I get to the camp? Will transportation be provided?
We have two bus pick-up locations in Kent and Tacoma. Our team will reach out to confirm your pick-up at either location should you need transportation to the camp, we will also be dropping off campers to the same pick-up locations when departing at the end of camp. Should you need to be added to the free transportation pick-up list as a confirmed attendee, please email qtpicamp@utopiawa.org ASAP.
  • What time should I arrive and when does the camp end?
Kent location will begin registration at 9am, the bus will leave there at 10 am. Tacoma location will begin registration at 10am, the bus will leave there at 11:30am.
  • What is the check-in process like?
Check-in for camp will be as smooth as possible, we do early registration for our attendees being picked up via free bus transportation and in-person check-in on site at camp. You will receive your camp shirt and other welcome items at camp.
  • Where will I be staying? Will I be with people I know?
Attendees have been preassigned to one of our many cabins, the camp is meant to bring our community together, so you will make many friends and see familiar faces if you’ve attended in the past. Our team will have reached out to you prior to arrival for any access needs to be considered for cabin assignments.
  • Are meals and drinks provided during camp?
Yes! You should have listed all of your allergies and dietary restrictions/safety needs, all of your meals will be provided as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day.
  • Is the camp accessible for folx with disabilities or mobility needs?
We do our very best to be accommodating to our diverse community and their needs, our staff will reach out prior to attendance to make sure that we and the venue can be as accessible and accommodating as possible.
  • What should I do if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
These should have been listed in your camp registration form, please contact qtpicamp@utopiawa.org should you need to update or inform us of any changes and updates. We alert our food preparation team of any and all accommodation needed in advance.
  • Will there be internet or cell phone service?
There will be wifi and cell service, but we are at camp to be around our community and have fun and fellowship with each other, we ask that you use your phones for the most basic of needs and capturing memories with friends and family, old and new.
  • Is there a quiet space or decompression area for those who need breaks?
The camp grounds provide many spaces for breaks and sensory needs; we only ask that you please let your cabin mates and team leads know of your whereabouts should you need to step away! The camp grounds are fairly large, so please don’t venture too far away.
  • Who do I talk to if I have a medical, personal, or safety concern?
Medical needs and concerns will have been asked of you in your initial camp registration form, but we will have a safety and medical team on-site to attend to our campers. Please let us know of any medications and health needs that our teams need to be aware of. Please also bring any and all of your necessary medications and medical equipment/materials needed with you.
  • Are children or pets allowed?
Our camp is open to all ages! Minors will need parental/guardian attendance with them at all times. UTOPIA Washington loves our fur babies, but unfortunately the camp site does not allow them in-doors / overnight. We ask that you please clean up after your fur babies!
  • What is the policy on alcohol, smoking, or substance use?
There is to be no presence or consumption of alcohol or substances on or around the camp grounds at any time. Attendees who do not abide by this policy will be asked to leave the camp immediately.
  • What kind of activities will we be doing?
Our camp agenda is listed on our website and on our social media posts, but some of the activities include our Mx QTPI Pageant, cultural games, workshops, song and dances, a talent show, and other fun activities. We ask that you participate as much as you can and take breaks as you need.
  • Can I leave and return to camp during the weekend?
We ask that campers do not come and go as they please, but if absolutely necessary, campers will need to notify their team and cabin leads.
  • Will there be a packing list or anything I need to bring?
Our packing list is on our website and social media posts, and will be emailed to confirmed camp attendees prior to the week of camp.
