Our History & MANAFesto

Our strength as a community is in the diversity of stories, experiences, and identities. As Fa’afafine, Māhū, Leitī, Vakasalewalewa and many other Pacific Islander identities, our very beings are by nature intersectional, and our work cannot help but be so as well.

Warriors Of Wisdom

What is Warriors Of Wisdom?

Warriors of Wisdom, or WOW is a vibrant program created by and for our community. Designed for seasoned members of the 2SLGBTQIA community, allies, and Parents of 2SLBTBTQIA+ individuals. WOW is a supportive space for connection and learning. Participants include elders, youth, and allies, all coming together to share wisdom, cultivate relationships, and bridge intergenerational gaps.
Our Objectives

Intergenerational Wealth and Growth

WOW aims to fill the generational gaps within the queer and trans Pacific Islander (QTPI) community and the broader QTBIPOC community. Given the alarming life expectancy statistics—40 years for queer elders of color and 35 years for trans people of color—we honor the invaluable wealth of knowledge and experience that our elders possess. WOW is also a space that offers resources, guidance and a community for parents navigating the journey of understanding and supporting their queer and trans children. The program includes workshops, discussions, and informational sessions on topics like cultural identity, advocacy, and mental health. We believe that through cultural storytelling, crafting, and mentorship, we ensure that the rich traditions and histories of our community are passed down, fostering a legacy that will endure for generations.

Emotional and Social Support

Loneliness can be a significant challenge for our 2SLGBTQIA+ elders, often leading to feelings of depression and anxiety. WOW provides a safe haven for seniors to forge meaningful connections and build emotional and social support networks. WOW also provides parents of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals an opportunity to address their questions and concerns. Here, they can find a home away from home—a community that nurtures, celebrates, and uplifts them.

Join Us

Become part of WOW and help create a future where wisdom flows freely between generations. Together, we can strengthen our community, honor our past, and inspire our youth. Let’s build a brighter tomorrow!
